Social Skills Groups

Social Skills Groups

At Jumpstart Center, we offer social skills groups that are tailored to the skill level of each child to ensure that children get the most out of their experience and that the skills being taught are appropriately matched to each child. The goals typically worked on in these groups include:

  • Improving communication skills: Children learn how to express themselves clearly, listen to others, and engage in conversations.
  • Developing emotional regulation: We teach strategies for managing emotions and responding to situations in socially appropriate ways.
  • Building cooperative play and teamwork: Children are guided on how to work and play together, share, take turns, and collaborate on tasks.
  • Enhancing problem-solving abilities: We focus on helping children navigate social challenges, resolve conflicts, and make decisions in group settings.
  • Fostering friendship skills: Children learn how to initiate and maintain friendships, including understanding social cues and practicing empathy.
